I Charleston Warsaw
Third Place 2014 Contest Winner

"I Charleston Warsaw" was performed by ShimSham - Warszawski Swing with cooperation with Swing Revolution Trójmiasto and Swing'n'Sway Cracow as a part of "I Charleston the World", a project initiated by SwingJammerz group. The idea is to gather all the videos of people dancing Charleston in the main places in their home cities.

For this clip we decided not only to show beautiful places but also to tell a story. A story of a city that, despite being burned to the ground during WWII, was able to rebuild itself.

Music was one of the bricks laid in foundation of Warsaw. We hear a charleston version of the song "Budujemy nowy dom" ("We Build New Home"), a tune very popular during rebuilding of Warsaw. We see young dancers performing around medieval, post-war and current era buildings and places. We experience a connection of old and new taking place with the help of one universal thing: jazz music.
