Jazz Dance Film Fest: spreading vintage jazz music and dancing to the world, one video at a time! Lights, camera, DANCE!
What is the Jazz Dance Film Fest?
The Jazz Dance Film Fest, held annually since 2009, is the only film festival dedicated to jazz music and dancing. All submitted films are short films, usually the length of a song. Submitted films are screened at the festival's Screening event which occurs during the Seattle Lindy Exchange, and are subsequently posted online. Awards for the winning films are also given out at the Screening event.
The festival has already arranged with some musicians to be able to use their music for the contest, so that entrants don't have to. If you are interested in creating and submitting an entry, read on!
What to Do?
- Select the music for your video from the list of allowed music, or partner with a jazz band that you know (the music page has info on how to do that).
- Be sure to check out the FAQ and Fine Print before you begin!
- Create your video! Videos must include some form of vintage jazz dancing, including, but not limited to: Lindy Hop, East Coast Swing, Balboa, Collegiate Shag, Tap Dancing, Solo Jazz, and the Charleston.
- To enter your video, submit it to the contest (online and mail options are available) anytime between now and August 21, 2014.
On September 12th, 2014, we will be screening all the submitted videos in Seattle, at the Seattle Lindy Exchange. Everyone is welcome to attend!
